How to Cancel Subscriptions in Google Play

Cancel Google Play-billed subscriptions on Android or the web, find the purchasing account, and confirm the end date.

Confirm that Google Play is the billing owner

Open Google Play subscriptions in the Google Account used for the purchase. Treat the subscription as Google Play-billed only when it appears there, in its Google Play order history, or on a Google Play receipt. A provider that bills you directly or uses another payment method must handle its own cancellation. Uninstalling an Android app does not cancel its subscription.

Cancel on Android

In the Google Play app, select the correct profile, then open Payments & subscriptions and choose Subscriptions. Select the service, tap Cancel subscription, and complete the reason and confirmation steps shown. Stay on the flow until Google Play displays the updated status rather than stopping after the first tap.

SubsCraft tip: Record the purchasing Google Account and the renewal or expiry date before cancelling; it makes a missing item much easier to trace later.

Cancel on the web

In a browser, open Google Play subscriptions, sign in with the purchasing account, select Manage beside the service, then choose Cancel subscription and complete the confirmation. The web page and Android app manage the same Google Play billing record, so use the route that has the right account signed in.

Find a subscription that is missing

Switch through every Google Account you use, search each inbox for Google Play receipts, and review Google Play order history. The purchase may be in a family member's account; being a family manager does not grant access to that person's purchase record, and Google Play's family payment method cannot be used for subscriptions. If the item never appears in the purchasing account, use the receipt or statement to identify a direct provider or another store.

Understand access, pauses, and restarting

After a normal paid Google Play subscription is cancelled, access usually continues until the end of the already-paid period shown for that item. Some subscriptions offer Pause; that is different from cancellation, and Google Play shows the date on which billing resumes. Before a cancelled subscription expires, Google Play may offer Resubscribe or Restart for that item. Trials, prepaid plans, instalments, and provider-billed services can have different dates and controls, so use the status shown in the purchase record.

Keep refunds separate from cancellation

Cancellation stops future renewal but does not automatically request or guarantee a refund. Use Google's separate refund route when it applies, and follow the provider's refund policy if Google Play was not the billing owner. Keep the cancellation confirmation even when you also make a refund request.

Confirm the Google Play cancellation

Return to Google Play subscriptions and confirm the updated state and access end date. Save the confirmation email or screenshot, then check the next expected renewal on your statement. If a charge remains after the displayed end date, contact the biller named on the receipt rather than repeatedly cancelling in the wrong account.
