How to Back Up and Move Your Subscription List Safely
Create and verify a manual local or latest-file WebDAV backup before moving or clearing a device, then restore and compare key records.
Create a manual backup before changing the device
Use manual local export and restore, or a manual WebDAV backup that keeps the latest file. Create and verify the backup before deleting data, clearing storage, signing out, resetting the device, or replacing it.
Verify the backup file
After export, confirm that the file exists, opens or can be read by the supported restore flow, and has the expected location and timestamp. Protect the destination with appropriate account and device access controls. Do not rely on a filename alone when the file may be empty, incomplete, or stored in a temporary location.
For WebDAV, run the backup deliberately and verify the latest file at the configured destination. This is not a schedule or version archive: a later latest-file backup may replace the previous copy.
Protect optional encryption separately
If optional encryption is used before upload, keep the key in a separate safe place. Anyone with the file and key may be able to read the backup, while a lost or incorrect key prevents decryption and restore. Moving only the encrypted file without its correct key is not a complete migration.
Restore and compare
On the target device, choose the intended file and restore manually. Compare the record count and a sample of important fields: service, amount, currency, renewal date, and status. Keep the source device or original file unchanged until the comparison passes.
The product provides no scheduled automatic backup, version history, account cloud sync, continuous multi-device sync, or server-side recovery. An old, incomplete, corrupt, or wrong-key file cannot guarantee that every record will be restored.
SubsCraft tip: Record the backup time, storage location, key location, and post-restore comparison before changing or clearing the original device.
