How to Cancel Adobe Creative Cloud
Cancel with Adobe or the billing partner, then review the plan-specific fee, refund, access, and storage consequences.
How to cancel Adobe Creative Cloud: the quick answer
Cancel a plan bought directly from Adobe in the Adobe account that owns it. If Apple, Google, Microsoft, or another seller appears on the receipt, that provider owns the cancellation. Each active Adobe plan must be cancelled separately.
Before the final confirmation, read the fee, refund, and end date shown for that exact plan. Creative Cloud cancellation terms differ by plan, purchase channel, product, and region.
Before you cancel, capture the exact plan terms
Open Adobe Plans and record the plan name, purchase date, billing frequency, next payment, and contract end date. Under Manage plan, Adobe also lets you check every app and service included in that plan; do not assume that cancelling one plan ends a different app or a second Adobe plan.
Move or download work that must remain available without a paid app or a larger cloud allowance. In particular, check Creative Cloud storage usage, cloud-only files, Lightroom originals, shared assets, and any workflows that depend on paid features.
If Adobe bills the plan directly
Use the Adobe account shown on the receipt and plan page.
Cancel Creative Cloud step by step
- Sign in to Adobe Plans.
- Under Plans and payment, select Manage plan for the exact plan to end.
- Select Cancel your plan.
- Check the plan details, then select Continue to cancel.
- Choose a reason and select Continue.
- Read the cancellation details, including any fee, refund, and access end date, then select Confirm cancellation.
- Check for Adobe's confirmation email or verify the cancelled status on the account page.
Repeat the process only for another plan you also intend to end. Adobe says cancelling one plan does not cancel other active plans.
SubsCraft tip: Save the plan name, billing frequency, quoted fee or refund, access end date, and final confirmation together; the account-specific screen is stronger evidence than a generic fee estimate.
If a third party bills Creative Cloud
Adobe's self-service steps apply only to subscriptions purchased from Adobe. If the receipt names Apple, Google, Microsoft, a reseller, or another provider, use that provider's subscription or contract process and ask it about refunds.
Do not cancel an unrelated Adobe plan just because the expected subscription is missing. Match the seller, order number, and Adobe account first.
What happens after you cancel Creative Cloud
Fees, refunds, and the service end date
Adobe says most plans receive a full refund when cancelled within 14 days of the initial order. After that, its current published terms show several different patterns:
- Month-to-month: the payment is generally non-refundable and service continues to the end of that month's billing period.
- Annual contract, billed monthly: the standard clause may charge 50% of the remaining contract obligation and continue service to the end of that month's billing period.
- Annual contract, prepaid: the payment is generally non-refundable and service continues to the end of the contracted term.
These are not universal promises. Adobe's same terms page contains regional exceptions—for example, a different California fee clause—and products or sellers may use other terms. The current Adobe subscription terms and the amount and date shown on the final cancellation screen control. Cancelling does not create a separate refund request.
Apps, storage, and files
Paid apps and services remain available until the plan's displayed end date. The Adobe account then stays active with free membership benefits; cancelling the plan is not the same as deleting the Adobe account.
Adobe's post-cancellation access guidance says Creative Cloud storage falls to 5 GB. If usage is above that limit, Adobe gives 30 days to reduce online usage; after 30 days, access to some or all files on Creative Cloud servers could be lost. Files saved on the computer remain accessible on that device, although opening or editing them may still require compatible software.
Adobe separately says Lightroom originals remain stored for one year after membership lapses so they can be downloaded, while Lightroom Classic photos already on the local drive remain accessible with some modules unavailable. Free cloud files may be permanently deleted after inactivity, with email notice beforehand. Those statements are product-specific boundaries, not a promise that every cloud file has a one-year retention period.
Why the cancel option may be missing
- Adobe is processing a payment or reports a payment problem: Adobe says to wait 24 hours and try again.
- A third party owns the charge: use the provider on the receipt rather than Adobe Plans.
- The wrong Adobe account is open: match the email and order number on the receipt.
- Another plan is still active: check every plan separately; one confirmation covers only the selected plan.
How to confirm Creative Cloud is cancelled
Check all of the following before the next expected payment:
- the exact plan shows a cancellation or access end date;
- Adobe or the billing partner sent a confirmation;
- the quoted fee or refund matches the final screen;
- every other Adobe plan you meant to keep still appears correctly;
- important cloud files have a separate copy or fit within the future allowance; and
- the next statement contains no unexpected renewal.
If a charge appears after cancellation, compare its period and date with the confirmation before disputing it; Adobe notes that a charge can be the final payment for the current billing period.
Adobe Creative Cloud cancellation FAQ
Is the cancellation fee always 50%?
No. That figure belongs to a standard annual-contract-billed-monthly clause after the initial 14 days. Plan type, region, product, seller, and the account-specific cancellation screen can change the result.
Does every cancellation within 14 days get a refund?
Adobe says most plans do, not every purchase in every channel. Confirm the initial-order date and the refund displayed for the exact plan.
Will Adobe delete local files?
Adobe says files saved on the computer remain accessible on that device. Cloud storage and paid-app access follow separate limits, so make an independent copy before the plan ends.
Does cancellation delete the Adobe account?
No. The account remains active with free membership benefits. Account deletion is a separate action and is not needed to stop plan renewal.
